Missions Events

Join us for an interactive and compelling week of events that will give a glimpse of Greenville through the lens of four remarkable local nonprofits—Jasmine Road, Triune Mercy Center, Project Host, and Soteria. Each day will include an educational component, service component, and a time to fellowship over lunch. Lunch will be included and all events are free. 

Daily from 9am – 1pm/2pm. Register for one or all four days!

MONDAY, JUNE 27: Jasmine Road

Education about Jasmine Road, a Coercion through Choice Simulation*, and lunch at their social enterprise, Jasmine Kitchen 

Details:

    • Meet at Buncombe Street’s Administration Entrance at 9am for the simulation. We will travel separately to Jasmine Kitchen for lunch.
    • Please bring a water bottle. 
    • Max 20 individuals
    • Age Requirement: 18+

*Warning: This simulation is an interactive experience related to the realities of human trafficking. We advise anyone with negative experiences with human trafficking, prostitution, or addiction to think what’s best for his or her wellbeing before signing up. Adults only.

TUESDAY, JUNE 28: Triune Mercy Center

Community Bus Tour on poverty in Greenville, education about Triune Mercy Center, volunteer activity at Triune, and boxed lunch

Details:

    • Meet at Triune Mercy Center (222 Rutherford St) to begin boarding the bus at 9am. Bus seats two to a bench seat.
    • We will travel back to Buncombe Street for lunch and debriefing.
    • Bring a water bottle and wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty.
    • Max 14 individuals
    • Age Requirement: 10+

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29: Project Host

Education and tour of Project Host, 12 individuals will prepare and serve meals for the homeless and 8 will volunteer in the garden, and lunch provided by Project Host

Details:

    • Meet at Project Host (525 S. Academy St) at 9am.
    • Bring a water bottle, hat/sunglasses, and sunscreen (specifically those assigned to work the garden).
    • Wear closed toed shoes and clothing you don’t mind getting dirty.
    • Max 20 individuals
    • Age Requirement: 10+

THURSDAY, JUNE 30: Soteria CDC

Education and tour of Soteria, pick up trash and help with miscellaneous tasks for neighbors in the Poe Mill community, and lunch with the men in Soteria’s program

Details:

    • Meet at Soteria Community Development Corporation (210 Shaw St) at 9am.
    • Bring a water bottle and wear good walking shoes and clothing you don’t mind getting dirty.
    • Be prepared for the weather that day (i.e. bring sunglasses, sunscreen, rain jacket, umbrella, etc.).
    • Max 20 individuals
    • Age Requirement: 10+
