Advent Events

Visit our Downtown campus and journey through Bethlehem as a family! Stations in Sisk Hall will lead you through Advent crafts, creation of Advent wreaths/Chrismon ornaments, and snack making. Families can write Christmas cards for military families and homebound BSUMC members. We will also be collecting new winter coats, underwear and socks for our community partners. Location & Time: Downtown campus / Sisk Hall from 5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Invite your friends and join us in fellowship at our Christmas Luncheon! Registration closes December 1. Our featured speaker is Kipra Anderson, Founder and Director of Let There Be Mom, a Greenville based non-profit organization dedicated to serving local moms and dads battling life-threatening illnesses. Click here to register. Location & Time: Downtown campus / Sisk Hall from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Join prize winning artists, Angela Massey (flute) and Rachel O’Brien (harp) for a magical concert with classical repertoire to fit the spirit of the season as well as holiday favorites including The First Noel, O Holy Night, O Tannenbaum and Greensleeves. Please note that childcare will not be provided. Location & Time: Downtown campus / Sanctuary at 7:00 PM Watch the Livestream
Please join us as our fifth-grade students present their special Christmas program, Bethlehem Breakfast. We invite you to sing along with our students in celebration of Jesus' birth. An important part of this program is the collection of donations to support a charity selected by our fifth graders. This year we are supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas by collecting children's clothing, sizes Newborn-4T (including jackets and shoes) and $25 Visa gift cards for families to enjoy a meal together during the holiday season. Items can be dropped off in the church office through December 13. Location & Time: Downtown campus / Sanctuary at 9:45 AM  Watch the Livestream
Not everyone feels holly and jolly this holiday season. Whether you are dealing with the death of a loved one, facing life after coping with the loss of a pregnancy, living with cancer or some other dis-ease that puts a question mark over the future, and a number of other human situations that make the season feel less than jolly, come to our Blue Christmas Service where we hold sacred space for you who are living through dark times. We will reflect, remember, and accept where we really are while holding out healing and hope. Please note that childcare will not be provided.  Location & Time: Downtown campus / Memorial Chapel at 4:00 PM
Join us for our Youth Christmas Parties! There will be one party for high schoolers and another for the middle schoolers. Visit the Youth webpage for more information. Location & Time: Offsite at 5:30 PM
Celebrate Christmas in Soprano with music from Tamra Grace Jones. Additional musicians include Pamela Dodson (Soprano), Meredith Keen (Cello), Mary AllyeB Purtle (Oboe) and Duane Ream (Piano). There will be a bake sale fundraiser with funds going towards music lessons for under-privileged children and refreshments provided by The Village Grind. Please note that childcare will not be provided.  Location & Time: Downtown campus / Sanctuary at 7:00 PM Watch the Livestream
The Bridge at B-Street will gather during the Sunday School hour to have a time of fellowship to celebrate the season and welcome home those who are in town for Christmas. Location & Time: Downtown campus / Drake Hall at 10:00 AM

Missions Advent Offering

On August 14, Haiti was hit by a deadly 7.2 magnitude earthquake that affected over 800,000 people in its southwestern peninsula, killing thousands and leaving tens of thousands more displaced. Days later, the country was struck by tropical storm Grace, causing flooding in the earthquake-affected areas and exacerbating the damage and suffering. Amidst the chaos, gang violence has drastically increased in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area, displacing some 19,000 people. These incidents are unfolding even as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to strain the health system and other infrastructures. Children have been impacted the most. Hundreds of schools were destroyed and thousands of children cannot go to school. Currently, there are 5000 children on Mission of Hope’s list waiting for school sponsorship.
