Libraries

We are fortunate to have access to both an adult and children's library at the Downtown Campus. Additionally, we have access to a free Christian digital library, Right Now Media.

Adult Library

The Adult Library of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church was established and is maintained to serve as a resource of information for the staff and members of the church. It is located on the second floor, in room 202, near an entrance to the Chapel.

The library is open whenever the church is open and is used as a routine meeting place for several groups. A conference table, suitable for small group meetings, a wall-mounted television, and a DVD player are available for Bible Studies, working on research, or reading.

The library has collections of reference, fiction, and biography books. The nonfiction collection focuses on topics such as Bible Commentary, the history of Methodism, social issues, devotionals, and guides to the Christian life. There is also a collection of books and DVDs that may be used for retreat activities and Sunday School classes.

Materials are arranged using the Dewey Decimal System and can be checked out by signing the card and leaving it on the desk. Materials should be returned to the wooden box underneath the desk. People who wish to reserve the Library, recommend new items, and/or need help in finding materials should contact Rev. Roy Mitchell for more information.

Children’s Library

BSUMC is proud to offer an extensive children’s library, which is fully stocked with high-quality and award-winning Christian books and DVDs. Look for our library co-chairs wandering around on Sunday morning with our library selections. They will often be dressed as the familiar characters of Mary and Martha from the New Testament. (Thank you Mandy Bullock and Nancy Turner!)

Church members and guests are invited to check out books and DVDs at any time the church is open. We ask that children be accompanied by an adult at all times. The Children’s Library is located directly outside of Drake Hall, across from the Truluck Room. Contact Gayle Quay  or Stephanie Horowitz for more information.

Right Now Media

Rightnow Media is a user-friendly service available wherever Internet access is. Sunday school classes or small groups can stream biblical teachings right into the classroom or gathering places, and families can show quality, Christian programming in the privacy of their homes.

RightNow Media is a non-denominational ministry committed to serving the local church and its people. It’s easy to register!
